so i would like to discuss team building mainly focusing on tanks and off tanks.

I was trying to think of the different tank set ups together. well I am trying to think of the best possibilities for team comp for tanks and off tanks together.

set up 1

tank-galio(bot double solo if malphite jungles)
offtank- malphite(jungle)
ranged dps- (ashe pref) - mid
support- morgana/sona/janna - top
last- what ever works and isnt banned (top with support)

reason for galio / malphite combo is because alot of people focus merc treads if gailo and other stuns/slows in game and well malphite is the counter for that with galio
so gailo flashes in and pops ult after which malphite needs to count quickly or get as close as possible to see when they break with merc and are about to run out of
galios ult, malphite pops his up to knock them all up to keep in for the whole time. amumu doesnt work well with this job because he usualy has to iniate before galio. And between galio and malphite they just keep slowing everyone making it hard to get away. The plus side to malphite is at the point of big team fights his ground slam will do alot of damage plus he's good at circling and sneaking up on the ranged to distract the carrys while our carrys take em out.

set up 2

tank- amumu (top)
offtank- warwick(jungle can do both jungle but risky)
ranged dps- mf,ashe(mid)
ap/ranged #2- kennen hes a must with amumu they are just too good together since kennen got buffed(double solo)
support- janna or sona (morganas okay but not needed at this point) heals are alil better (top)

so in this set up the idea is for ww to keep ganking but once he hits 6 he double ganks bot with amumu and kennen from mid to get easy 2 kills. Then when team fights start amumu opens with a stun as team trys to scatter he ults, kennen then speeds in and ults giving stuns to almost everyone on there team, alowing mf ult to kick off or for her to take out one of there squishys. WW then jumps on who ever needed sumtime his role is to take out the stunner or tank so they cant stop us from taking out
the squishys. Janna or sona just keeps kennen and amumu alive since they will have most focus at this point in beginning of fight. Now this team is much better for quick reaction (if we are the ones getting surprised ganked by there team) alot of times the first team to get set up and make a move on the opponents usualy if they have good team comp win, but this is alil but harder with this team because of all the disables. amumu can turn and stun/hold there team as they jump in making it hard for them to get to our carrys/squishys. Then kennen follows up and everyone does what they are good at. Plus with sona she has stun and janna can knock back there whole team and healing ours making it hard to get gank on us.

Alot of times galio and amumu plus usualy sona or morgana is banned if this is the case we always need a plan B.

so tank choices are not that hard because at this point its narrowed down. So if we have a good shen then he can tank or garen with offtank of ww/malphite/gragas/olaf/nasus.
The reason for garen or shen is because whos not scared of a garen yea hes alil nerfed now but still a great tank. or even rammus if you get to pick him first because he is another good tank for team fights with his aoe ult that pwns towers and his taunt makes him very useful. I personaly perfer shen but reason is because he can keep a teams carry alive better in my personal opinion.Plus if he knows what he's doing he can taunt more then 1 person. But if we are talking ranked then its all based on bans and who the other teams pick. well give me some more ideas for good team comps. and let me know what you think of the ones I already have. Ill update with more team list later.

out of the premade set ups u posted, im liking set up 2. reason behind that is i see the great ganking potential early game and a way for some players to get fed early (specfically amumu and ww ofc) but im really excited to try to come up with some more unique ones that may catch ppl more off guard, and also try to be less unpredicatable.

yea same evangleone, im working on a few more i just didnt have time to post them ill prob post a few more tonight. just post ideas of tank set up and stuff on here if you want. Also refrence to ryu i havnt came up with a good solid team set up for katarina yet im still working on fitting it in the perfect squad for her so you reach for potential on your carrying!!! Means lots of assist for me and lots of kills for you!!!!

Well if we're talking about set-ups, I think there a few things that are quite unpredictable and quite deadly that people tend to overlook. Like jungling Fiddlesticks, or Xin Zhao. I think Fiddle has an edge here so I'll use him as an example.

I think he's the biggest (and one of the nastiest) "surprises" an enemy team can have. A sudden crowstorm in your head out of nowhere + the support of however was in the lane (let's say Galio flashes in and ults, or amumu). It is deadly as hell. But then we'd need some sort of support in case enemy team doesn't die (if they don't, then fiddle is in serious trouble.) A suport like Soraka, that is pretty much a healbot or taric seem to blend in nicely.


Just a few things to consider. Some characters that are overlooked most of the times (like Fiddle) can really be game changing. We might want to look into that.

I've never seen Sion be banned in ranked for example, and he can be a decent tank, excellent Physical DPS or reliable "mage" (stun + death's caress boom). I don't remember people being afraid of Fiddle to ban him. Eve's never a ban either (though you gotta be really good with her. she can rock but it's hard to rock with her). TF's not a threat either.

Ppl are too worried about Vladimir, Garen and dudes like those. I've played with a few of you and we can roll with several "not threatning" champs and crush enemies. So I'd vote we keep on working on that.

So here's a sugestion of a setup

1st Tank - Rammus (he's the "specialist" against physical DPS. He also have a pretty decent damage output)
2nd Tank - Galio (Magical DPS "specialist", also has a decent Damage output.)
Jungler - Fiddlesticks
Physical DPS - Sion/Jax/Olaf/Twitch/Tristana/Pantheon/Shaco (Damage output that is not only powerful, but also contributes to the team, along with not being the most "popular" bans)
Magical DPS - Veigar/Annie/Anivia/Heimerdinger/Zilean (A powerful nuker with good cc or zone control that aren't popular bans. Zilean in particular is also a decent support.)

The focus here is to aim for synergy. Fiddle will try to gank left and right. Tanks would be separate. Should Fiddle gank top and Rammus is top, taunt should hold enemy in place for Crowstorm + fear + silence pidgeon. If Fiddle goes bot, galio holds enemy with ult, and in case he doesn't have, supports fiddle by slowing enemies, speeding a line for fiddle. Fiddle would have Ghost and Flash btw, to keep up with enemy. The dps on each lane would support the gank, obviously, if present. Middle is not much different. If annie/veigar is mid, stun + crowstorm + fear hould be deadly as hell.

After ganking phase is done and teamfights begin, rammus and galio's ult still synergise extremely well with fiddle's. Anivia, twitch's and annie's too.


The objective is about huge bursts of AoE for quick kills and quick teamfights resulting in victory with no/few casualties on our side and scoring aces.

In theory I think it's good, but in practice.... guess we gotta see.

aight the idea is good but we would nee a really good ad dps to carry too, reason for this is because if they stack magic resist it could screw us over. but im up for practicing it to see how it works together. its looks intresting and fiddle could be a good jungler that we over looked.

This might be a personal opinion or maybe I'm just a plain noob, but I've played warwick a lot and I would NEVER consider him anywhere near an off-tank. WW can have a huge amount of lifesteal, yes, but that'll never make up for the fact that he's still very squishy anytime he's not hitting someone (or someone without a thornmail and a lot of armor). I see warwick as the kind of melee that runs in right after the team fight has started and beats the carriers as fast as possible, but never the one that gets any kind of focus.

well wulfprey in higher elos they actually build ww as an off tank. They build a mandreds on him them mostly tank items suchs as FoN, sunfire, guardian angel, thornmail.. reason is because after tank iniates then ww stuns one of carrys they switch targets very quick to interupt his stun which is why of course u get the banshee vail, but then if they manage to get you out of your stun befor full time is up they beat on you hoping to kill you fast because with the mandreds you can wreck havoc so they wont let you just beat on them while they focus everyone else. These items and building as off tank alows you to stay alive and frekin just pretty much falcon punch(kill them) all there tanks or even there carrys.lol. But if your in a more say squishy game or lower elo you will see alot of dps or tower pushing ww's. Now if your in a game where everyone is a squishy caster then you get like a mandreds or some good attackspeed item then a high dmg item like infidity edge or blood thirster or black cleaver even, then rush tanky, because if you can survive the squishys burst then you are almost guarenteed to kill them. Thats the reason ww is considered off tank, also he's your second too iniate and take the brute force of a team.

That seems like a couple reasonable arguments. I've never seen an off-tank built warwick but I'll be sure to try it out

Huh... You just remedied the reason I don't play WW anymore. I've gotta remember how to jungle though... Once that happens I'll be in good shape with a second character!
